Shaping the Future: Stanbic Bank Extends NSC 2026 Application Window
In a move to ensure no innovative student is left behind, Stanbic Bank Uganda has announced a ten-day extension for the 11th Edition of the National Schools Championship (NSC) recruitment. The new deadline for schools to submit their business pitches is March 29, 2026, a decision sparked by an unprecedented surge in applications from rural districts.
The theme for 2026, “Powering Innovation for Job Creation,” has resonated deeply across the country. Over 3,000 schools, both public and private, have already registered interest. The NSC has evolved from a simple debate competition into Uganda’s premier youth entrepreneurship incubator. It offers students a unique blend of mentorship, business training, and the chance to win a portion of the UGX 100 million prize pool.
“We saw a massive influx of requests from school administrators in the Karamoja and West Nile regions who needed more time to refine their student projects,” said a representative from Stanbic Bank. “This extension reflects our commitment to inclusivity. We want the next great Ugandan enterprise to come from any corner of the country.”
Last year’s winners, who recently returned from an educational trip to South Africa, have already begun implementing their solar-powered waste management system in their local community. This year’s participants are pitching even bolder ideas, ranging from AI-driven agricultural sensors to mobile apps designed to bridge the gap between vocational students and potential employers.
The NSC remains a beacon of hope for a country where youth unemployment is a pressing concern. By teaching 13-to-18-year-olds how to build business models and manage finances, the program is effectively creating a new generation of “job creators” rather than “job seekers.”
